I'll be starting next week, where I'll be able to give you guys a run-down version of my work duties.

I'm still looking around for translation\tuitions to improve my cash-flow; it's starting slowly; it's out there in the universe (read:Notice boards, CV sent, online community, etc...)

08/06/09 (Job) Update
4:32 AM | Author: Tarko
Well, as many of you knows, I'm looking for a job at the moment, as I usually do after being in a new country.

As usual my various avenue are being covered, without success. But not to despair, I keep with me my zenhood; chillaxing in a city where 33degree is considered 'cool'.

I tough I'd thwart the system for once and apply my search and energy on system\job that would let me work wherever I am in the world, disregarding boundaries or cultural background; using the internet to do my biding, use the information highway to get me closer to clients or at least, money.

Yours truly have tried for a few weeks now to score a job as a translator (FR<=>EN) but, alas, without much success. Many would point out the tremendous amount of spelling mistakes I do, in both language, with much reason to do so. But, you know, now I have a genuine reason to learn not to do so many mistakes.

On the other hand, my contacts (thanks again CS) lead me to discover the wonderful world of teaching English as a second language! Many websites are out there with people from all over the world seeking, desperately, English teachers: I can't be THAT bad, can I? So this option is now a new one for me, double so valid now because, hopefully, it will help me improve my own level in English and by a causal-effect relationship, will help me score those sought-after translation jobs.

This is where I am; looking for jobs online. So, if anyone hear about someone looking for someone who could do a job web-based, please, PLEASE think about me! It WOULD be a win-win situations, transcending the usual boundary of work relations.

Howdy all?

I hope you're all having an amazing time!

I know I am, browsing, no, LURKING on the internet looking for work.
I had a few replies this morning (Yai), two jobs in India and one in China.

But this is not the reason of this post, I wanted to show you THIS link.

It allows you to send me a sms on my phone. I tested it and it works! I can even reply to your msg and it will show on the webpage.

Please note that this will work as long as I'm staying with my current cell-phone service provider.

Enjoy,

Howdy all?
How have been your 11 days without me? Hopefully you survived,as it would be hard for me to keep on living if I learn some dies because of my (lack of) updates!

For those not in the know; I'm still in Singapore after a month, looking for a job. The reason why I'm still in this lovely, but four-days-is-enough, city is because I need money (duh). I was expecting to get a wad of cash from my previous work done with Cornucopia(RedCross) Australia, but my most-anticipated 5K turned into smoke. Coupled to that un-settled debts by various agent; my money is low.. no, it's inexistent!

Once again: thanks CouchSurfing! Yet another angel, after Jeff and Elaine: Michelle. Without her I would have to go back to dumpsters and sleep under bridges, something I don't really fancy in Singapore. So, once again (and not for the last time):

THANK YOU MICHELLE!

-------

Now, if you guys saw the pictures (you DID saw the link to pictures on the top-right corner, right?), or specifically THOSE
You might notice half of them is food-related. There is a good reason for that; if you head toward CS and browse on Singaporea's profiles, you'll notice they mention two main characteristic about their city: Food and Shopping!

Altho most meals I had were alright, if somewhat exotic, a few of them require a bit more dwelling upon:

Ice Catchang

Typical Singaporean desert, the ice catchang is a sweet that my canadian palate have a few problem with. It's relatively easy to make back home, here's the recipe:

-In a bowl, put small Jell-O cubes (In Sin: grass jelly and such)
-Add on top some Red kidney beans or any redish beans
-Add Ice-shavings until it form a decent-sized heaps. (yai! Coooold dessert!)
-Add 3 kind of different, but sweet, syrup (Try any of Couche-Tard Sloshe'ones)
-Pour condensed milk on top of it all
-And finally put a cherry on top!... NOT!! No cherries but.. CORN! Yup, put some Corn on top.

There you have it, ICE CATCHANG!
After trial and error I ask mine without the beans and corn: much better!

Frog:
(The dish that looks like Chicken wings)

Those back home might remember that I don't even eat Frog's legs, but we're talking about the whole thing here, and frankly: it taste like chicken ;-)

Chicken Feet: (Same picture,lower-left dish.)
a few of you might remember my encounter with chicken feet in Australia; my feeling toward them haven't changed at all: the most disgusting piece of food (I shudder just to think of them as food) ever!

Other than that you have the usual yummy and cheap noodle dish @ pretty much all the food courts or hawker centers, which allows any local, or travelers, to eat for cheap.

I leave you for now with the guardian of Singapura, the MERLION

(and, in real life ,this thing is HUGE!)

18/05/09 Pre-Update

Howdy all?
I promised an update within the week, here it is!

Many of you have mentioned, or at lest hinted, toward my, somewhat, restrictive 'world-tour'. many had comments on how they thought I would stagnate in Nz or Oz. After 20months, I can understand how this misconception arose. I DO think, nonetheless, that this conception of the reader is a biased one; while you are staying home, enjoying the comforting and lulling humming of daily life, I'm experiencing it through a different filter, the filter of cultural disparity. I know many of you feel left down by my lack of updates; I am the first to feel disappointed by my sporadic blogging entries, believe me. Not that I don't like writing or that there is nothing to write about, but I feel a Blog entry should be meaningful, or at least, somewhat exciting. Although the novelty for a Canadian to work in a grape orchard is something to be classed in the 'exotic' files, in the perspective of the subject, me, it boils down to only being a other job after all. Like many things in life (morality, art, etc..) it is important to draw a line; micro-updates twice per day would be a Twitter(tm) rip-off, a daily short-update falls better in a FaceBook(tm) perspective, where as a more slow and weekly(monthly?) updates falls in-line with the Blog.

What does this Wall-o-Text boils down to? I WILL try to do lengthy, weekly updates on the Blog. I WILL do daily updates on FB if I connect, meaning; if I take 3min to check my e-mails, I WILL take 45sec to update my status in FB. This decision, and engagement is fulled by different front: 1)An effort against my (legendary) procrastination. 2)Answer people's concern about my lack of updates. and finally 3)Build a followship of readers; you can see the last point as my effort to stay connected with my friends from all over the world.

The last point require a bit more of dwelling upon. Although most of you consider me a loner, I do, in fact, need a minimum of social contacts. In my travels I met many people, people who became friend, and close friend. But me being me, as I left the city, state or country they were in, contacts were lost too. i came to realize that this lost of social contact, this alienation was similar to the one I lived with my friends from home. Few conversation, few contacts; little by little, close friends become friends, and friends acquaintance, acquaintance .... This process as been mine for many years, unfortunately, but at least I know it and like the saying goes: Knowing is half the battle!

Stay tuned for a REAL update on Singapore folks!
This time, it WILL be on time ;-)

Update 10/05/09 (Future of the Blog)
1:03 AM | Author: Tarko
Wow! It's been FIVE months now that I haven't posted an Update!

Unforgivable! I can't build a Fanhood without a constant flow of updates, can I?
Therefore, here's my solution:

-Where mechanically possible, I WILL do a (smaller) Update once A WEEK!
-On a daily-basis, I will be using Facebook for spontaneous news.
-I will also use Facebook for pictures.

I will obviously use Facebook as a media for the updates too. Posting on FB when an new one is up and such. But the reverse is not true; I will NOT post on the blog to say there is new pictures up or a status update on FB. As such, pictures that are not directly linked to an update wont be mentioned on the blog, up to you to go have a look at the 'extra goodies' ;-)

*Random 'Spam'*
PLEASE become a member of CouchSurfing(.org). Without CS yours truly woulodnt have been able to travel as far as he did, he would most probably still be in australia or back in Canada! CS is a safe, secure, interesting and fun way to meet people from all over the world, to share cultures AND to cut-down your hostels'bill. As Uncle Sam would say: I Want YOU! ('I' in this case being th CSing community)

------------------------------------------------

I know this blog as underwent many face-lift and change in direction and such, but please bear with me one last time, I think we'll be able to turn this thing in the right direction and align it in such a way it will be viable for me to update more often.

I realized That I still buy books on the go, which is stupid.... I know.
1)Bulky and heavy
2)cost money

BUT this addiction of mine might be your salvation. If I can get my hand on a light-weight e-book(kindle for example). Not only will I cut down the weight, but I would also have access to a device that let me write on a DAILY-basis updates... ON THE GO! So I'm looking into, being in Singapore with all the electronic stuff.

That's pretty much all for this update, stay tuned for the 'real' one!

Update 10/12/08
1:51 AM | Author: Tarko
From: Cornucopia office, Auckland. 300Richmond Rd

Tel: (+64) 0211027456

Places: Went back in Oz last week-end, Brisbane.

Ppl: All the team from Auck office and most Manager from Nz/Oz

Mood: Even

Wellbeing: I've been eating too much shit lately... urkk!

GoodOne: Stuck up with Cornucopia instead of leaving for India straight away

Oups: Overstaying my Visa in Oz

FunnyFact: Overstaying my Visa ;-)

Coup de coeur: My new way of noting the updates.

Work: Cornucopia(RedCross)

$:Far less than before: 1600$Nz; but there is heaps of money ppl own me (for a change)

As most of you know by now, I've over-stayed my australian visa, resulting in my 'extradition' to kiwi ground. Through contacts I made within the company, I went to Auckland work for my friend Naomi. Still team leader, I'm on the verge of going for a 3month road-trip throughout the north-part of Nz!! Just bough a car for this purpose in fact: Mitsubishi Libero 1996. For those of you who knows for a fact that I can't drive, that is why I have Jea with me, my personal driver.

This was a little run-down of my geographical-work situation... wich is totally NOT what this post is supposed to be about!

Procrastination; art of living -or- living art?

I'm tired of procrastinating. Yup, you read it right! Black on white (or white on black for that matter).

DOWN WITH PROCRASTINATION!!!

There is heaps of things in life we say "as soon as""right after this" and so on... especially in my case. No more.... starting on my birthday.

This is officially my last BIG procrastination, waiting for my birthday to incorporate my saying in my living. I give conselling, hints, help, advices. I say this and that, beliving it, but not really doing it, or at least only partially. Time for me to put my pants on and apply my belief to myself, my body and not restrain it to philosophical/ideological realm!

Withou further ado:

LIST OF THINGS!(I know, not very specific, is it? I'll fix it later)
1)Veganism
I know I should have been for a couple of years now... but how could I have lived without eggs and dairy!? No more milkshake/ice-cream!! ARG!! But I have to do it, because this is what I belive in, I was just too lazy and in my own little confort to do it... NO MORE!
((This one can be waived under 2 circumstance: If I'm going to die and HAVE to -OR/AND- Under a social event; in mongolia, they eat horse meet and milk, I wont turn it down if it is the only thing someone offer me.))

1.5)Healthy nutrition
Easy step to achieve if #1 is. As long as I cut down on hot-chips (ou juste 'chips' pour nous en fait..).No more pops, only water and natural juice with minimum added suggar.

2)Smoking
'nough said

3)Body
I always belived in the Body/Mind/Soul trinity, yet I never did anything (short of a few weeks at the gym) of work on my body. I read alot and cultivate my ethic senses, but my body is a wreck. Once I day I will do exercisses, be it streching, yoga, martial art or whatever (havent picked wich one yet).

4)Procrastination
I'll have to kick myself, and ask for help -yours- with this one. Procrastination is one (in fact, my only) defect. This one is going to be a hard one to turn around. I'm sick of it, so much things I whant to do, or wanted to do but never came to be. "More fullfilling my life will be", as Yoda would say.

5)Sleep
My sleep pattern is fucked, I dont know how but I seriously need to regulate it. Maybe a "no more than 7.5 hours of sleep" or a "never later than 23:00". This obviously doesnt cover special events (wich will need to be defined)

6)Paper!
I had a big list of things. Most of my thinking seems to happen when I go to bed, in the 30min before I fall asleep. I need to keep a piece of paper by my bed to writte my toughts down (I actually do it, not just stay in the sheets because it's cozy)

I am not writting this down here because I whant to brag or anything, but merely as a way to put it 'out-there', in the universe; to be able to see, a first step to its realization. This plan will take effect on my 26th birthday, the 24th of December 2008.

Until then,
I wish you all luck in your project,
and may they bring you happiness.
-Tark

P.S:The new update's quotation is to save me the 3sec it took me previously to go check to wich number I was, yup, still a lazy mother-fucker.
Update on Halloween's Eve

Date: October 30th, 12:01Am

Place: Alex's, Perth

Tel: Same old, same old (0449665615)

Lieu(x): Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and just Perth in general

Pers:Amanda(et cie), Jet (et cie) and just heaps of ppl through CS!

Etat d'ame: Yai! I'm saving lives!

Etat physique: Ouch, new piercings=pain

Bon coup: Working for the RedCross

Mauvais coup: Nothing!

FunnyFact: Im doing a job I love, saving lives on a daily basis... and I never made as much as I do

Coup de coeur: RedCross... sorry, easy but true

Travail: Take a guess ;-)

$:6000$

There it is, at last! An update!
I'm pretty sure by now everyone is calling their friend to tell them that Tarko is alive ;-) (If you aren't, you should). Fear not loyal friends, it is truly me, not some bloke who figured-out my password for my Blogger account.

As most of you would have worked-out by now: I'm working for the RedCross. I'm a team leader in the Perth\Wa branch of Cornocopia, the corp who does RC's fundraising (along others charities). My job consist of standing in the sun all day long and stop people to have a chat about the RedCross, which leads to a membership (small monthly donation). So I'm paid to be outside, tlak to (some) interesting ppl and save life!

I made the calculations the other day; a surgeon saves what? 3-4 lifes per day? On my best day I single-handledly raised 285*12*4=13680$ for the RC (almost half what the Gov give them each year by the way). If we go on worst case scenarion: 30$\Life, therefore: 456lifes, in ONE day! Yai! I love my job!

We all whant to change the world.... we all say it, rarely do it... here it is, MY way to do it... THE most effecient way for me to save life, to MAKE a difference in the world. It's not only talk, I'm walking the walk too now.

Within my first 3weeks I made it to the grade of team leader, one of the fastest achievment ever... you know me, you know how I am: silver tongued and smooth-talker: I'm just CUT-out for that job. I'm actually thinking about starting a branch of Cornocopia in Canada when I come back... I'll submit the idea at the next conference in Brisbane. Hopefully....

That's pretty much what have been happening lately!

I'm living with Alex at the moment, sharing a 4bedroom house in Atwell(Perth), where we spend our time fixing bicycle, cars and the house. Hopefully the car will be runing again and we'll be able to take the boat to the beach and have some sailing\barbie\esqui\diving during week-ends!

Life is rough, living 10min away from the beach when it's 34-37 outside ;-) Just close enough to have a dip and a barbie(bbq) after work before going back home.

Hope you enjoy your time guys, take it easy: life's too short.

Here´s what to do...
1. go to aa.com and search for your desired flight.
2. Continue with the reservation. On the ´Passenger Details´ page Fill your name, email address and other details and click ´Continue´.
4. On the ´Flight Summary´ page, at the bottom, next to the ´Purchase´ button, there is a ´HOLD´ button. Press it.
5. On the next page, there will be a confirmation number. Note this number. Don´t print yet.
6. Go to www.aa.com/aa/reservation/findReservationAccess.do
7. Enter your Name and Confirmation Number and click ´Go´
8. Now click on ´Print Itinerary´.
This generates an itinerary complete with booking code, confimation number and seat number, etc. Looks very much like a paid-for e-ticket reciept, inspite of the disclaimer.

Yai! Ed me dit qu'il fais le voyage d'une shot, meme si sa prend pres de 19heures. J'embarque.

Sweet-as bro, no fucking worries!

A HitchHiker journey (1/2)
8:49 PM | Author: Tarko

A un tournant de la route je dit: "I think Adelaide is that way bro, mind letting me out?".

Wish I could walk-in a pub with me backpack and order a beer 45min before it close. Jack, a pint of VB for the lad".

Place:Travel Stop Cyber Cafe, Blenheim

Tel: Same

Lieu(x): Picton, Blenheim

Pers: Trop: backpacker=BCQ de monde

Etat d'ame: Kosser je kriss ici?!

Etat physique: Bien

Bon coup: Euuu, rien enfais, cést poche hein?

Mauvais coup: Avoir attendu l'hiver
